Beyond the Hype 2008: Web 2.0

Symposium to be held in Brisbane Australia 1-2 February 2008.

Well, it's 4.40pm and the first day is nearly over. The morning session was not without some minor dramas - no camera, no chairs & tables (for lunch), fun times setting up the AV equipment for recording etc etc. In the end it all turned out well, and our keynote speaker Christine Mackenzie presented an informative discussion on the mainstreaming of library 2.0.

The registration area was very quiet during the second session as all but a few registered attendees had already arrived. By all reports the three papers from the second morning session were interesting.

Myself and the other student volunteers got the job of directing attendees to the lunch area - which allowed us first pick of the food - YUM!

The afternoon session (unfortunately I only got to see the first two) were also informative.

I particularly enjoyed watching the Youtube video made by Luisa Rossitto and her team. Definitely the way to catch y-generation's attention.

Workshops were on after yet more food..... all in all a very enjoyable day.
