Workshops

Hi guys,

Am thinking of coming to Beyond the Hype and just wondered what will be involved in each of the workshops. Is it a basic introduction to those tools or more indepth? Can you please explain a little bit about each?

An excellent question. There will be 6 possible workshops that people can join:
Workshop 1: Second Life
Workshop 2: RSS, Mashups, blogs, del.icio.us
Workshop 3: Podcasting, Flickr, YouTube, Slidecast
Workshop 4: Social networking tools: facebook, myspace
Workshop 5: Business tools for project management
Workshop 6: Open Source software for library management systems

Each will be held in a computer lab so each person attending will have access to their own computer to use. The workshops are in the process of being designed. Our plan is that they will be fully interactive - giving everyone the chance to "get their hands dirty with the technology". We are planning on being quite flexible with the content and structure with each workshop being able to be modified to meet the needs of the particular people in the session (ie if everyone is wanting a basic level we will start there etc). But our idea is that we would try and move beyond just basics to try and challenge everyone to start "pushing themselves" beyond their comfort zone with the technology.
